The Garden

The large garden on the property contains many different kinds of palm and banana trees, from the small growing varieties, Pisang Kapal, where the fruits growing as high as your chest to the nearly 5 meter high trees of Pisang Sabe.

You find “finger-bananas“, which were named for their miniature size and “green bananas“, which are ripe even if they´re still green. They never turn yellow.

Ask Jemin, the gardener, to pick bananas, papayas and pineapple for you. You will experience an amazing aroma of fruits growing ripe on the tree and which are freshly picked.

ry Jambus, a peer like fruit from the tree right next to the entrance, or pick yourself a ripe mango from one of the many trees. Another unique tropical plant is the fruit of a cashew nut tree, mente, where only one nut grows underneath.

All of the fruits available at the Country - Villa depend of course on the season and all of these tree ripened „natural“ fruits only stay fresh for a few days. As you can see, these fruits are much different from the kinds of „high-tech-products“ you buy at our supermarkets at home. You will also find a different taste.

A Bruga is a traditional little wood constructed gazebo covered with alang-alang grass, where the

local Sasaks rest. 

The Area Surrounding the Country-Villa

Kuta is situated in a valley covered with thousands of coconut trees between high mountain-ridges,

leading to a half-moon-shaped bay with a white sandy beach.

Far out at sea the mouth of the bay is closed by a submerged coral reef, which protects the bay from

the mighty waves of the Indian Ocean.

The view from the mountain ridge down on the bay of Kuta with its unique sugar cone shaped Seger Hills in the rear, is one of the most fantastic views you can find at all of Asia. Just try it !

Kuta still is a small agricultural and fishing village, tourism doesn't play a dominant role in the

Village now, but there might be big plans for the years to come. It's the right time to discover Kuta

while it's still unspoiled.

Still the neighbors of the Country-Villa are rice-farmers, fishermen and tend water buffalos for a

living. And still White-head sea-eagles circling over the Villa in the limelight.

We try to preserve this original situation by growing more than 500 coconut trees and planting more​

than 600 mahogany and teak trees on our land.​

From the rice paddy fields of the Country-Villa to the beach it´s only 600 meters!

With a motorbike, a short ride on nearly empty roads, will take you to the lonely famous bays of

Tanjung Aan, Serenting, Seger, Mawun or Selong Blanak.

During summer time these short motorbike rides will take you past large tobacco fields.

This makes Kuta an ideal habitat for all kinds of seafood. At the time of low tide (full-,half- and

new-moon) the local people of the neighboring villages are able to walk far out into the bay to

search for cuttlefishes, crabs, sea-urchins and, of course, fish of all kinds.

It´s a magic atmosphere at night, when hundreds of lanterns from the fishermen gleaming across

the lagoon. Behind the reef at the sea, the lights from small boats searching for cuttlefish reflect off

the calm ocean water. The men wading just with a cloth around their loin out into the dark sea and

return hours later with their catch. You can witness the entire experience at Seger-Reef-Cafe (one of

the fisherman´s base). It is an experience so original and wild, that you never will forget it!

The power of the waves gnaws since hundreds of years at the coral reef, but a little bit inside the

lagoon you still can find leather- and table-corals housing many colorful fish like the Emperor-

Angelfish and Boxfishes. You will find murrains as well as sea anemones and their inhabitants, the

Clown-fishes. Numerous, incredible. blue-shining Star-fishes and Cleaning-fish are also at work.
